Fishing & Other Water Activities

• Are the rates quoted hourly, for a day or a half-day?
• Do the rates include bait, tackle, ice, drinks, sandwiches or other food?
• Is a deposit required? How much? When?
• What is the maximum and minimum number of passengers for the boat?
• Will the captain combine smaller parties to fill the boat?
• If you are a member of a group charter, who makes the decision to return early to port if conditions become uncomfortable?
• What is considered an appropriate tip for captain and crew members?
• Does the price include cleaning your catch?
• What is the policy on trips shortened or canceled due to weather conditions?
• At what "sea state" (height of waves, wind speed, etc.) does the captain terminate the trip?

• What is the size of the boat?
• From which local marina will the trip depart?
• What types of fish does your party hope to catch?
• Are you allowed to keep your catch?
• Are there limits on the number of fish you are permitted to keep?
• Will you be permitted to bring your catch aboard if the fish is a sport-only or mandatory release species?
• If someone in your party is fishing for a world record, will the captain allow you to set your own hook? (If someone else sets the hook, the person fishing is disqualified from record competition.)

• Does the captain prohibit certain types of shoes that may discolor the boat's decking?
• Is there a covered area on the boat?
• Is there a secured dry area in which to store camera, jackets, etc.?
• If someone in your party has special needs, can the captain accommodate them?
• You are entitled to information about: the captain's Coast Guard certification status age, manufacturer and voluntary inspection dates of the vessel insurance coverage, flotation devices, fire extinguishers, radio equipment and EPIRB(emergency locating device.)
